Hi all,

I'm new here and I would like to know if this project is still alive regarding the last updates on SVN ?

I work on a pretty big project using Java3D and it seems like for every feature I want to add, I have to do it from scratch. So I thought about changing for a more complete engine and I selected two choices : JME and Xith3D. I like JME and they seems to have a very active community but Xith3D is more similar to Java3D and it would be easier to migrate.

That's why I ask this question, I hope the (objective) answer is yes Wink

Sorry in advance for my english,
Antoine

PS : And if someone has good reason to confirm my choice of using Xith3D instead of JME I take it, it is always good to have many points of view Cheesy

The project ist not dead. But out small group of developers (mostly myself) doesn't alwayss have time to contunie development. But as time allowes me, I still keep caring for the engine.

Thanks for your answer. That's what I thought I I think it's enough for me to change for Xith3D Cheesy

One more question, I read an article about Xith3D written in Feb. 2007 (http://www.3d-test.com/interviews/xith3d_1.htm, sorry it's in french) and it was about a version 1.00 with a lot of additionnal features. I suppose it's not for now ?

There's a lot, that has been changed since this article. But we're not ready for 1.00 yet.

There are many dev who work and only periodically post ideas/questions.  Xith3d is ABSOLUTELY FULL of coolness.  The major feature you will want to examine is the large set of demo program in the xithtk source tree.  Most anything you want to do is hidden in there, ripe for the picking.  I just grabbed the render to texture code to provide an overhead view of my avatar as it walks through rooms, 5 mins of research to add a large capability.
